La Pedrera is located on the well-known boulevard Passeig de Gràcia No. 92 in the district of Eixample. The building has an extraordinary design, in the days it was build and still today. Its wavy frontage made of stone is also the reason for the name "La Pedrera" which means “quarry” in Catalan. But it's not just the facade, the whole building itself has a lot of innovative elements, as for example separate lifts and stairs for the owner and the household help.

In 1984, La Pedrera was affiliated in the World heritage list by UNESCO. Shortly afterwards, the Caixa Catalunya decided to buy it, restore and renovate it to turn it into a place for cultural activities. In addition, the building is open to the public and the interior and the roof can be visited.
